The Vienna series is an experiment in ekphrasis. Some examples of ekphrasis local to Vienna: Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which set to music Schiller's poem "An die Freude"; Klimt's murals (The "Beethoven Frieze") in the Secession building, that interpret Beethoven's themes through imagery.
